Slowing Down Aging Skin: Effective Strategies

Aging is an inevitable part of life, but there are several strategies you can employ to slow down the aging process of your skin. By incorporating these practices into your daily routine, you can maintain a youthful appearance for longer.

1. Use Sunscreen Daily

One of the most effective ways to prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging is to use sunscreen every day. Sunscreen that contains zinc oxide is preferable over those with titanium dioxide because it provides better broad-spectrum protection. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 15 sunscreen daily, and use SPF 30 for prolonged outdoor activities. Even if you wear makeup, sunscreen should be the first layer you apply.

2. Protect Yourself from the Sun

Sunscreen is essential, but it’s also crucial to take additional measures to protect your skin from the sun. On hot or overcast days, wear a hat and stay in the shade whenever possible. UV rays can penetrate clouds and cause damage, so consistent protection is necessary.

3. Avoid Pollution and Smoking

Environmental factors play a significant role in skin aging. Stay away from highly polluted areas when possible, and avoid smoking. Smoking damages the elasticity of your skin fibers, leading to rough and wrinkled skin.

4. Get Enough Sleep

Adequate sleep is vital for skin repair and regeneration. Your skin undergoes a natural repair process while you sleep, so ensure you get enough rest each night.

5. Sleep Positions Matter

Try to avoid sleeping with your face pressed into the pillow. This can cause sleep lines that, over time, can become permanent.

6. Stay Hydrated

Hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin. Drink plenty of water, especially on hot days. Raw fruits and vegetables also contribute to your hydration. Avoid relying on sodas, sugary drinks, tea (except herbal teas), coffee, or milk for hydration. Consider rotating between reverse osmosis and distilled water.

7. Limit Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can dehydrate your skin and lead to issues like spider veins and broken capillaries. Minimize alcohol intake to keep your skin looking its best.

8. Eat Fruits and Vegetables

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables provides essential antioxidants that protect your skin from sun and pollution damage.

9. Take Antioxidant Supplements

Consider taking antioxidant supplements, including up to 2000 mg of vitamin C. This may require taking the vitamin separately to ensure you meet the recommended dosage.

By integrating these practices into your daily life, you can effectively slow down the aging process of your skin and enjoy a more youthful, vibrant complexion.

Do You Feel Older Than You Look?

By
Have you ever come across someone who looked much younger than their chronological age? We all did, and we certainly were impressed with it.

The common saying 'you are as old as you feel' rings true in the case of 68 years old women Jenny Darren who stunned the audience, and Simon, with her persona and the delivery of the Highway To Hell song Watch Jenny Here and defied the perception of aging. In spite of her white hair and not-so-firm body she exuded youth through her voice and her energy. She was confident and determined to succeed and she did. Not only that she was able to entertain the audience but she made everyone question the age factor and clearly understood that biological age is something we earn, we are in charge of and we can definitely reverse the course. How did she do it, and how can you do it too?

The scientists at NYU found that nearly 30% of aging is dictated by genetics but the remaining balance of 70% is due to a lifestyle. What does this mean to us now that we live so much longer? We can change the way we look and the way we feel because we are in control of it.
Many people associate hormonal fluctuations with teens and women but the truth is that people from all walks of life suffers the consequences of the hormonal roller coasters. But is it inevitable? Is there something you can do to help you body to stay in balance? Yes. There is a lot you can do and let's begin with focusing on one organ that is responsible for the jumps. It's the thyroid.

The thyroid is part of the endocrine system that utilizes iodine to produce, store and release into the bloodstream T3 and T4. These hormones regulate various bodily functions such as metabolism, circulation, nervous system and more. In effect the hormonal imbalance affect the body and in turn it impacts the skin.

The fact is that the healthier your lifestyle the less breakouts and stress you experience.
Let's talk about a balanced and a healthy diet and low sugar diet. From my experience the Mediterranean Diet is the smartest diet. You are not restricted and can eat the healthy fats but focus on low sugar intake. One of my friends who is nutritionist claims that "If the horses can eat grass and be strong and healthy why can't we?" He proposes a raw food diet by the means of juicing kale and broccoli while adding a fresh fruit and water. Keep it simple he says, there is no need to make it creamy by adding all sorts of possible hormonal disruptors form dairy or sugar from juice concentrates. Make sure to add healthy fats into your diet. Not only it moisturizes the skin but it is a fuel that helps the body work efficiently.

The skin suffers the consequences of a poor diet rich in carbs. Glycation is a natural process in which the sugar from your bloodstream attaches to proteins forming harmful molecules responsible for premature aging. The collagen as you know is made of proteins, the body hormones depend on a normal insulin level. When the stress level raises too frequently it can evoke a cascade of events leading to high blood pressure in addition to acne and wrinkles. That is exactly what I mean by focusing on wellness during my consultation with a client who comes for a skin care consultation or a skin care treatment.

What about the sun exposure and skin aging? Too much sun and unprotected skin will age prematurely and as a result the skin becomes fragile, wrinkles form with visible skin sagging beginning with the jaw line and onto the neck. It's been said that the longer we wear our skin the more effects the environment has on it. Apply your sunscreen!

As a skin care professional I am happy to say that we've come a long way from blaming the skin aging on our hormones and age to reversing the aging process naturally through phototherapy, peels, microdermabrasion and antioxidant rich skin care products. If you haven't seen our plant based products yet, you can do that here.

Living a healthy lifestyle means a lot of things to a lot of people, some realize that they need to include raw foods into their diet, others need to exercise more and many find that they need to find something they are passionate about, something that makes than happy. Whatever your lifestyle improvement needs are you'll benefit from knowing that it all start with a positive attitude and a smile!

Tips to slow down aging process

The aging process begins the moment people were born and continues until he die. Its effect really start to become evident sometime between twentieth and thirtieth birthdays and are increasingly obvious every year thereafter.

Metabolism begins to change and people gain weight easier and find more difficult to lose and digestive tract becomes sluggish and more sensitive. Among the common ideas for slowing the process of aging:

*Taking vitamin E and C supplements regularly. Vitamin E primarily protects cell membranes and vitamin C protects the inside part of the cells, in its watery fluid.

Vitamin E may play a role in keeping arteries clear. In one study in Italy shows that the women who had lower levels of vitamin E in the blood had greater amounts of artery-clogging plaque.

*Lowering polyunsaturated fats in the diet. Polyunsaturated fat is one of the substance which is more easily oxidized than others and thus gives rise to more free radical reactions, presumably, therefore promoting aging due to free radical mediated damage to cells.

*Dieting to slow aging. In any case, restricting diets by eating less, but maintaining adequate amounts of nutrition is healthy and can thus increase the life expectancy. Diet should be developed to improve and preserve health and wellbeing and slow down the ageing process. Losing weight must be just a consequence rather than a goal.

*Practice of mental to reduce stress. Take adequate rest, relax as often as possible and sleep well. An afternoon nap can boost life span as well as the performance.

Stress is tremendously aging, and the way people react to stressful, situation is usually more harmful than the stressful event itself.

*An active life

*Good marriage and social life can prolong life

*Regular exercise is important. It is good for body and mind, it can prevent a host of diseases. Regular exercise fight the tendency of oxygen to slowly breakdown muscle mass, might protect against the type of tissue and muscle loss that occur as individual grow older.

Vigorous daily exercise increase the body’s production of human growth hormone, which helps regenerate the body’s cells.

*Mental exercise such as reading and crossword puzzles, and physical aerobic exercise for about 15 minutes, three times a week can go long way towards preserving the body and mind.

Use the brain regularly and it can remain sharp until 100 years old and beyond.

*Water is the best anti-aging vitamin for skin. Well dehydrated skin stays smoother and is less prone to wrinkling.

Eating Vegetables and Fruits for Longevity

Eating Vegetables and Fruits for Longevity
Vegetables and fruits do so much for longevity quest in so many different ways. Fruits and vegetables are energy foods. For most part, they’re fiber rich carbohydrates, ideal for optimal energy flow. Fruit, in particular, may be the perfect workout food. While other sugars will give a quick burst of energy, fruit sugars deliver a steady stream of carbohydrate energy over a few hours.

All those vegetables and fruit will keep body weight down too. With some notable exceptions like coconuts and avocadoes, most fruits and vegetables have little or no fat and not much in the way of protein either. They still have calories, of course, but filling up on their fiber will push fat and excess calories out of body system.

By eating lots of fruits and vegetables, it will reduce cancer risk in at least two ways. The fiber they provide pushes digested food through body gut faster, giving potential carcinogens less times to damage cells in digestive tract. But also, the antioxidants that are so abundant in fruits and vegetables destroy cell damaging free radicals. They may also actually reverse existing cell damage before it leads to cancer.

Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables at any age has been shown to slow down, brake or even reverse many if the unpleasant developments associated with the aging process. Heart disease and cancer are just two such problems that antioxidants combat.

They also help keen body mind sharp, body becomes strong, eyesight keen and body immune system powerful enough to fight off infections and other illnesses.

There’s even some promising evidence that the phytochemicals and other good things in fruits and vegetables retard the aging process itself at the cellular levels.

In other words, if antioxidant intake is high from eating lots of fruits and vegetables, people may be biologically “younger” than others age who have low antioxidants intakes.
